IOQM 2026 Cutoff: Region-wise Status and RMO Qualification Rules
Official region-wise cutoff marks are not available before the examination and result process. The 2026 qualification rules are available, including the 10% threshold, category definitions, regional ranks and girls’ quota.
No IOQM 2026 region-wise cutoff marks have been published. A score of at least 10% of the total paper marks is required to be eligible for RMO consideration, but 10% does not guarantee qualification. Selection then follows regional Category A, Category B and girls’ quota rules.

Category definitions
Category A and Category B for IOQM 2026
Category A
Students enrolled in Class 8, 9, 10 or 11 who score at least 10% of the paper’s total marks are classified as Category A for the stated selection process.
Category B
Students enrolled in Class 12 who score at least 10% of the total marks are classified as Category B.
The category is based on the class recorded for IOQM 2026. It should not be guessed from age or previous participation.

How students qualify from each region

Because ties are included, the number selected from a region can exceed the base count. The score of the last selected student under a route becomes the practical cutoff for that route after results are processed.
Special handling
Overseas students and regional cutoff generation
The official criteria say that an eligible overseas student is not counted when generating the cutoff of the region from which the student appears. Overseas eligibility and stage participation also depend on the separate eligibility rules.
Families in this situation should read both the complete eligibility guide and the official documents rather than relying on a simplified cutoff table.

Regional ranking
The main selection counts are applied within regions, so the last selected score can differ.
Category
Classes 8–11 and Class 12 use different selection counts and therefore can have different last-selected marks.
Paper performance and ties
Difficulty, score distribution and ties affect the mark at the selection boundary.
A useful prediction must state the region, category, evidence and uncertainty. IOQM.in will keep any future estimate visibly separate from the official cutoff and will not present a guessed number as a rule.

How to check the cutoff correctly
- Use the final official answer key for any self-estimated score.
- Confirm the student’s paper set and category.
- Wait for the official result/qualification publication.
- Check the region and selection route shown by the authority.
- Do not rely on a national social-media number without a region/category label.
- Save the official result or score record for any helpdesk query.
If qualified
RMO preparation should begin with proof writing
IOQM is numerical-answer based; RMO requires complete mathematical arguments. A qualifying student should shift from answer-only practice toward explaining why every claim is true, writing connected proofs and receiving feedback on gaps that a numerical answer can hide.
