What to do before 6 September
1. Practise with the real format
Solve IOQM previous-year papers and use an IOQM mock test under a strict timer. Fill an OMR sheet during full-length practice so bubbling errors do not cost marks.
2. Analyse errors, not just scores
Classify each mistake as a concept gap, calculation error, misread question or time-management problem. Retest the same topic after correcting it.
3. Prioritise high-return revision
Use the IOQM 30-day study plan to balance number theory, algebra, geometry and combinatorics. In the final days, revise known methods rather than starting several difficult new sources.
4. Prepare exam-day essentials
Keep the printed hall ticket and every item required in its instructions ready in advance. Confirm the route to the centre and follow the reporting time on the ticket; do not rely on a generic time quoted by a third-party website.
After IOQM: what happens next?
IOQM is the first stage of India’s mathematical olympiad pathway. Eligible candidates who satisfy the official regional/category qualification rules move to RMO. The later path continues through INMO and the official training and selection stages.
Qualification rules, cutoffs and result dates can vary by cycle. Use official MTA(I)/HBCSE notices and do not treat an unofficial score prediction as a result.
