Open official IOQM papers and answer keys by year, understand format changes, and use each paper as a diagnostic lesson—not just a score-producing exercise.
The official HBCSE archive currently provides IOQM papers and answer keys for 2020 through 2025, alongside earlier PRMO resources and later-stage RMO/INMO papers. Use the direct links below, then review every skipped, guessed and incorrect question before moving to another year.

HBCSE/MTA(I) files preserve the original wording and official key. Third-party copies may change formatting, omit instructions or continue showing a provisional answer after a final key is issued.
Read before comparing
The paper format has not been identical every year
Recent standard IOQM papers use 30 numerical-answer questions over three hours and a 100-mark structure, but earlier cycles included special formats and administrative changes. The 2021–22 cycle, for example, used Part A and Part B. A raw score from one format is therefore not automatically comparable with a score from another.
Recent papers first
Begin with 2025, 2024 and 2023 to practise the format closest to the present examination.
Older papers for depth
Use 2022, 2021 and 2020 for additional problem exposure, while reading the instructions and format notes carefully.
PRMO for extra practice
The official archive also contains PRMO papers from before IOQM. They are useful historical resources but should not be presented as identical to the current IOQM pattern.
A three-pass method
How to use one previous paper properly
- Untimed diagnostic: for a first paper, attempt questions without pressure and record the ideas you recognised.
- Timed simulation: on a different paper, use the official duration, a quiet desk and a separate OMR practice sheet.
- Decision review: note which questions consumed time without progress and which easy opportunities were missed.
- Concept repair: group gaps under algebra, number theory, geometry and combinatorics.
- Reattempt: return to the same unsolved questions after reviewing the relevant ideas; do not merely read an answer.
- Solution writing: even for numerical answers, write a complete private solution so your reasoning can be checked.
After the timer
Build an error log that changes future practice

Do not confuse the two
An answer key is not a detailed solution
An official answer key confirms the accepted numerical answer for each paper set. It usually does not teach the argument. A useful solution should explain the main observation, justify each step, address hidden cases and show how the final numerical answer follows.
When a third-party solution disagrees with an official final key, do not assume the key is wrong. Recheck the paper set, question numbering, provisional-versus-final status and all conditions in the problem. The 2025 final key itself documents a correction from the provisional version, showing why the final official file matters.
Choose the next paper
A sensible order for beginners and experienced students
New to IOQM papers
Start with one recent paper untimed. Analyse the four topic areas, then study foundational gaps before attempting the next recent paper under partial timing.
Already writing mocks
Reserve recent untouched papers for full simulation. Use older papers and topic-wise questions for learning between simulations.
Do not exhaust every recent paper at the beginning of preparation. Keep at least two strong papers unseen for later-stage timed practice.
